We look forward to having you join us for 3 days of hands-on, minds-engaged sessions designed to support middle and high school forensics instruction. This year’s themes for each day include Pattern Evidence, Forensic Biology, and Death Investigations and AI. Morning coffee and lunch, featuring 3 outstanding professionals as speakers, are included. Time is built in for collaboration facilitated by our experienced high school forensics teachers. All sessions will be held on the NJIT campus, June 30th, July 1st and 2nd, 8am – 3:30pm. On-campus parking and all materials are included in the registration.
Registration fee: $500. Some scholarships available for NJ science teachers thanks to a special grant.

This course is designed to prepare new latent print examiners for the technical foundation necessary to properly Examine fingerprints as a method for identification. Students will gain insight into the science of fingerprints learn about techniques for acquiring known exemplars, recovering and documenting unknown impressions, classifying and comparing impressions, and utilize the ACE-V methodology to render conclusions. This course will also provide an opportunity for students to train on equipment utilized by practicing professionals and culminate with presenting their case work at a moot courtroom testimony.

This course is designed to prepare current latent print examiners for more advanced techniques and skills to examine fingerprints as a method for identification. Students will build on existing experience and knowledge while gaining insight into the science of fingerprints. They will learn about more advanced techniques for acquiring known exemplars, recovering and documenting unknown impressions, classifying and comparing more difficult impressions, and utilize the ACE-V and GYRO methodologies to render conclusions. This course will also provide an opportunity for students to train on equipment utilized by professionals and culminate with presenting their case work at a moot courtroom testimony. Prerequisites to become certified, or re-certified, as a latent print examiner include 176 hours of approved training (CEU’s) within the last 5 years of application. This course is approved by the IAI for 35 hrs toward certification/recertification. This was the first course in NJ to be approved and only one other exists at this time.
